Community Outreach

The SCPA participates in the following community programs:

AHEAD WITH HORSES
Ahead With Horses uses the SCPA site every Thursday from 1pm-5pm. This equine therapy program provides innovative therapy through vaulting on horseback to disabled, disadvantaged and special needs children. Both equine and human volunteers are provided by SCPA members..
SCPA hosts an annual Ride-A-Thon and Family Day Fundraiser to help support Ahead With Horses.

EDUCATIONAL FIELD TRIPS
SCPA hosts field trips to the site for the Hoover and 20th Street Elementary Schools of the Los Angeles Unified School District. The day consists of demonstrations, hands on horse grooming, crafts and a trail hike. Pizza and snacks are included. These events are run by SCPA volunteer members, resident trainers and SCPA staff.
